The Program plans to award over $280,000 in scholarships in 2012 to local students. Since the
Program began in 1999, over $2.4 million in scholarships has been awarded to over 1,000 high school
seniors in Clark & Nye counties in Nevada. Las Vegas McDonald’s and the Las Vegas Review-Journal
support the Program by donating a portion of every Las Vegas Review-Journal newspaper sold at
participating McDonald’s restaurants. McDonald’s donations and in-store newspaper sales will fund
more than $150,000 in local scholarships in 2012. Thanks to McDonald’s customers, McDonald’s has
contributed over $1.2 million in newspaper revenue to the RMHC scholarship program.
RMHC of Greater Las Vegas also partners with several local community organizations in an
effort to offer a wider scope of scholarship opportunities. The partners for 2012 include 100 Black Men
of Las Vegas , Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Hispanic Educators
Association of Nevada, The Links Inc., Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., United Fire Fighters of Southern
Nevada, and Through the Eyes of a Child Foundation.
